AFEQ – CNF INQUA
FRENCH ASSOCIATION FOR THE STUDY OF THE QUATERNARY – CNF INQUA
The AFEQ was founded in 1962 to promote the study of the Quaternary period. It is a multidisciplinary group that brings together representatives from all scientific fields related to this period, including archaeologists, botanists, climatologists, geographers, geologists, geophysicists, paleontologists, palynologists, soil scientists, and zoologists. The Association is open to all Quaternary researchers, both French and international. It publishes the journal Quaternaire, organizes an annual field trip, conferences, study days, and keeps its members informed about current research developments—most notably through its quarterly newsletter, La Gazette de l’AFEQ. In July 2012, the merger of the two French Quaternary research associations—AFEQ and CNF-INQUA—was officially published in the Journal Officiel, and the newly unified association was renamed “AFEQ-CNF INQUA.”
