The Pleistocene Tufa of La Celle (Seine-et-Marne): Preservation and Development of a Quaternary Site for the General Public.
The tufa at La Celle, known to scientists since the 19th century, is an exceptional record of the interglacial period corresponding to Marine Isotope Stage 11 (MIS 11). Its scientific study resumed in 2003 with a multidisciplinary research team. In 2010, the site was designated a Sensitive Natural Area (ENS) and was developed for public access in collaboration with the Municipality of Vernou-La Celle and the Seine-et-Marne Departmental Council. This initiative was supported by AFEQ (French Association for Quaternary Studies).
