MASTER’S INTERNSHIP OFFER IN CARPOLOGY
An internship offer entitled “Environmental evolution and impacts of past anthropogenic activities on wetland environments of the Crémieu Plateau (Isère) through the study of plant macroremains” is proposed within the framework of the C2A2STORS project.
This internship will make it possible to produce an initial environmental reconstruction of the evolution of the Larina peat bog from the Neolithic period to the present day, based on the study of plant macroremains. In parallel, building this environmental history will allow the identification of evidence of human presence, activities, and anthropogenic impacts within these environments and their surroundings. These indicators will contribute to the study of ancient anthropogenic impacts on these environments, in collaboration with other types of proxies analyzed by other researchers and project collaborators (sedimentology, geochemistry, palynology).
Supervisors:
- Caroline Schaal (INRAP, UMR Chrono-Environnement): a specialist in carpology, responsible for training in the study of plant macroremains;
- Lia Vermot (Université Lumière Lyon 2, EVS-IRG): a PhD candidate in geoarchaeology and coordinator of the C2A2STORS project, who will support the student regarding the spatio-temporal context and the objectives of the project, and by extension of the internship.
Practical details:
- M1 or M2 internship lasting 4 to 6 months (second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year);
- The student will be hosted at the Chrono-Environnement laboratory on the Bouloie campus in Besançon;
- Funding for the internship allowance and travel expenses: C2A2STORS project.
