Q15 CONFERENCE – TOULOUSE – JUNE 2026 – CALL FOR PAPERS

The next Q15 Quaternary symposium will be held in Toulouse from 15 to 20 June 2025 on the Mirail campus of the University of Toulouse – Jean Jaurès (UT2J).

The Q15 symposium is organized by the TRACES research unit (UMR) and in particular its Geoarchaeology division. The symposium will be structured around 10 sessions and two round tables aimed at fostering discussion and creating synergy among the many disciplines involved in Quaternary research. Administrative, financial, and logistical aspects are handled by the Centre for the Promotion of Scientific Research at the University of Toulouse – Jean Jaurès.

The description of the different sessions and the submission of your paper or poster proposals are available on the Q15 Symposium website. Conference registration and fee payment will be open from January 2026 on the UT2J platform.

The first circular is available in PDF format.

The symposium will be organized around 10 sessions, including an open session:

List of sessions

  • 1. Earth surface processes beyond climate forcing : autogenic surface processes and their impact on sedimentary archives and local environments
  • 2. The spatio-temporal trajectories of socio-ecosystems at the land- sea interface: interdisciplinary and multi-proxy perspectives
  • 3. Metamorphoses of valleys in prehistory (in the broad sense): from site to watershed
  • 4. Palaeoclimatic, palaeoceanographic and palaeoecological changes during the Quaternary period: contributions from long continental, marine and glaciological sequences
  • 5. The challenges of paleoenvironmental reconstructions based on bioindicators: signal complementarity, limits and new developments
  • 6. Local response of glacial and periglacial environments to multi-scale climate variations: understanding current dynamics in light of past records
  • 7. Developments in the study of human behaviour: Population movements and diet in the Quaternary period – Isotopy and multi-proxy comparisons
  • 8. The wind across time and space: extreme events and sedimentary dynamics in arid and semi-arid environments during the Pleistocene.
  • 9. Biogeomorphology: the role of biota in shaping continental surface and subsurface systems
  • 10. Open session

Provisional Schedule

  • Mid-November 2025: Opening of the abstract submission platform
  • Mid-January 2026: Opening of conference registration on the UT2J platform
  • Mid-March 2026: End of early-bird registration
  • Mid-March 2026: Abstract submission deadline

Q15 Conference Program

From Monday to Thursday, the scientific sessions will take place (a single plenary session, with no overlap). Each day will end with the APLF and AFEQ award ceremonies, as well as various general assemblies and discussion periods. The gala evening will be held on Wednesday. On Friday, two workshops will be offered (one in the morning and one in the afternoon). The first will focus on karstology, and the second on the notions of socio-ecosystems and co-construction. On Saturday, an excursion will take place, prepared by M. Delmas, A. Vialet, E.
